Johann Michael Moscherosch
 a great German writer
(7 March 1601 - 4 April 1669)


Johann Michael Moscherosch, the great German satirist and moralist from Willstaett in the Upper Rhine was born on 7 March 1601. Ken Knight's major re-examination of Moscherosch's writing has now been published.

 
This year is the 400th anniversary of Moscherosch's birth. His home town, Willstaett in the picturesque Rhineland, is celebrating with a series of events, including a costume festival in July.

About the Author
 

Ken Knight (1921-1999) studied German  Literature at Cambridge under Professor Leonard Forster and published extensively on German Baroque Literature. He was Secretary-Librarian at the Institute of Germanic Studies London, Professor of German at the University of Kent at Canterbury and the University of Leeds (Emeritus) and chairman of the  Association of University Teachers of German.
